October 2007: The Season of Lists

Why am I going to write all of my weblog postings this month in the form of lists, rather than normal expository prose?

  1. I just moved to San Francisco, and am still basking in a damp, foggy glow.
  2. I just started working at Secret Level, and am still busy figuring out stuff like benefits and build scripts, so I haven’t had much time lately to think about game design.
  3. What with all the changes in my life, I’ve got all kinds of little, disjointed thoughts I want to get down. Too little and disjointed for Twitter, even!
  4. I don’t have a TV, and my DSL hasn’t been hooked up yet, so I can’t play any games or watch any shows. This eliminates something like 80% of this weblog’s potential content.
  5. Yes, reason #4 is driving me absolutely bonkers.
  6. I dumped all of my furniture in Minneapolis, because it was ratty old junk that I’d had since college. I am currently using a cardboard box as a desk. This is not an ideal environment for composing confident, coherent prose.
  7. I was watching A Bit of Fry and Laurie on DVD the other day, and had one of those “I am not qualified to sully the English language with my sorry excuse for writing” moments.
  8. I recently drove across the Bay Bridge. To Ikea. On a Sunday. The trauma is going to take me a while to get over.

Nooooooooooo . . . the horrors of IKEA on the weekend! I've been there just twice since I moved here, and the second time I went at opening on a Tuesday and it was much better. I got my desk at Target and it is actually quite nice, so I recommend a trek to Daly City to the Target Greatland before trying IKEA again, unless you find the *perfect* thing you just have to get.

What rat's nest of random bedding have I been rolling around in for the past week and a half?

even better, these are DIY free patterns. I'm sure you could scale them up for adult sizes...

As soon as I saw the word "NaBloPoMo", it was all over but the crying. And the posting of blog entries. But that's going to take a while. Thirty days, by my reckoning.
