In Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis, you have to learn quite a few controls to be effective:
- Position the player with the left stick;
- Read the opposing player’s spin by looking at the color of the glow on the ball;
- Hold one of four face buttons to charge your shot with the appropriate spin;
- Hold the left bumper to soften your return;
- Hold one of the other trigger or bumper buttons to execute a “focus shot”;
- Release the button(s) to swing;
- Move the left stick to aim your shot.
Here is what these controls allow you to do:
In Cooking Mama, you don’t have to learn quite as many controls to be effective:
- Tap the touch screen when Mama tells you to.
- Rub the touch screen when Mama tells you to.
- Blow into the microphone when Mama tells you to.
Here is what these controls allow you to do:
- Chop,
- Measure,
- Slice,
- Boil,
- Melt,
- Grate,
- Sautée,
- Peel,
- Stuff,
- Knead,
- Beat,
- Fry,
- Stew,
- Wash,
- Shell,
- Etc., etc.
I wonder if you could learn anything by taking more games and mapping out the ratio of controls to verbs.
