Bleary-eyed and lazy-tailed.

I know I won’t get any sympathy for this, as most of you are honest people with honest day jobs, but it’s been a long time since I got up at 7:00 in the morning. For a while I was sleeping in until noon or even 1 PM, but I decided that going fully nocturnal was a bad idea and started setting my alarm for 10 AM. Even my last job, since it wasn’t a 40-hour-a-week deal, allowed me to wander in late in the morning and indulge my snoozy tendencies.

But I’ve picked up another contract at Monster Games, and they’re a long commute away in Northfield, so those days of waking up to Midmorning instead of Morning Edition are over for the time being. All this early up-getting might turn out to be dangerous: If I don’t find other ways of maintaining my carefully cultivated air of insouciant slackerdom, it will slowly melt down into a normal workaday attitude.

Sympathy right here, Josh. I had to get up at 7 AM today too, and it's rough stuff, tell you what.

Let me know how the working world is. I'm on a crash course there myself right now....

Try being at work at 7am, bucko. That's fun & games for you. On the flip, it generally means being home by 4ish, which isn't half-bad, either.
