Handheld Messiah?

Why haven’t I heard of the GP32 before? Judging by the specs, it makes the GBA look like a GBC. 32-bit ARM processor, stereo sound, MP3 player, RF connectivity, blah blah blah. Apparently, it’s also very developer-friendly, and of course, any high-powered device that so much as nods at GCC will immediately have as many emulators ported to it as possible. You know, in case you want to play any SCUMM-VM or Commodore 64 games on the go.

I’m trying to figure out why this thing hasn’t been brought over to the U.S. yet. Lack of games and high price notwithstanding, is the GBA that dominant? (Answer: of course it is.) Or is it that “portable game-and-media player” doesn’t fill a big enough niche in the gadget-fetish world?
