Project Runway started its fourth season tonight, but I didn’t watch it, because I’m too cheap to pay for cable. I can’t get it on iTunes, because NBCU and Apple are having some kind of spat over revenue sharing or bundles or something. It doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon Unbox. I can’t get it on Hulu because I’m not in the beta, and I can’t even tell if they’re putting episodes up there anyway, because… I’m not in the beta. And even if they are available, I’m not sure if it’s totally cool to be watching TV shows online these days, what with the writers strike and all. Except that I don’t know if reality shows are really included in any informal boycotts, since they don’t usually employ union writers anyway, but I don’t know if that makes them better or worse, and JEEZ, all I want to do is watch Tim Gunn give catty people advice on how to make pretty clothes, is that too much to ask?

This is why people download torrents: Somehow, downloading scraps of data from a thousand different virus-ridden computers all over the interwebs and hoping they stitch back together into something reasonable became the easy way to watch TV.
