I listened to the Twins on the radio tonight, and my ears nearly melted with the greatness of the game I heard. A fantastic duel between Johan Santana and Curt Schilling turned into a war of attrition between the Twins and Red Sox, until Jason Kubel blew us all away with an em-effing walkoff grand slam in the bottom of the 12th. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

But as a nice chaser, I flipped on the TV after the baseball game was over, and caught the last couple of minutes in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, watching the Miami Heat cap off a backs-to-the-wall comeback win over the Dallas Mavericks. Apparently, no one learned anything from last year’s finals, because for some reason, people saw Dallas hold home court advantage through two games and started talking stupid talk about things like sweeps. I honestly have no idea who’s going to win this series, because honestly, I never believed for a moment that Miami would beat Detroit, or that Dallas would beat Phoenix. But it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that although they might end up missing out on the championship, a team with Shaq and Wade on it is never going to get swept. Please.

Gosh, there are some days when it feels really good to be a sports fan.
