The New York Times has a brief blurb on the New Games Journalism, barely a week after Kieron Gillen, the writer who coined the term, kind-of-but-not-really apologized for starting the whole flap. Nothing new for those who obsessively read writing about writing about games (got that?), but seeing the much-debated non-movement mentioned in the paper of record is a bit of a head-turner.

Once something’s been written up in the New York Times — well, by that time it’s usually already passe, but it’s also given an air of legitimacy that no amount of internet chatter can generate, no matter how much people talk about bloggers bringing about the downfall the MSM or whatever. There’s no going back now, I guess.
