Ok, so it’s a series against the Royals, who have stunk this season and stink even more without Carlos Beltran in their lineup. And even the Twins’ anemic offense can produce runs against a starting rotation that seems to have a perpetual deer-in-the-headlights look in its eyes. But still: when the starters manage to throw three consecutive complete-game shutouts, that’s something to be excited about. Especially considering how overworked and abused the bullpen was in May and June. It’s good to know that the real Santana and Lohse have finally shown up to replace the androids or pod people or whatever it is that’s been standing in for them up until now. Because everyone knows: pod people don’t get any run support.
