At the All-Star break, it looked like the Twins’ season had already been lost, but since then, they’ve had the best record in baseball. Their season turned around after aquiring outfielder Shannon Stewart, who has not only been a master of clutch hits, but has reminded the rest of the lineup how to bat; and (finally!) moving Johan Santana into the starting lineup, where he’s become the ace pitcher everyone knew he would be. And tonight’s 4-1 victory over the Indians (thanks to Kenny Rogers fielding even better than he pitched), combined with losses by the White Sox and Royals, clinched the AL Central and a playoff berth for the team. Now to see who the opposing team is (probably the Damn Yankees).
