I’m sure if you took all the time you save from using an IDE (debugging, code completion, refactoring, etc.) and subtracted all the time you waste in an IDE (configuration, frequent upgrading, simple things made difficult, poor performance, etc.), you’d still come out ahead in the end. But there are days, like today, when I really wonder.

On the plus side, version 2.1.1 of Eclipse for the Mac makes huge improvements in performance. Where it was once completely unusable due to speed issues, now it’s just annoyingly slow. It’s still ugly, though.
