It never really occurred to me, but air conditioning may be one of the most underrated advantages of programming in an office environment. I’ve been thinking and typing slowly all day while I’ve worked, as well as constantly losing my concentration and letting little bugs slip past me. Most of today’s lack of productivity can be traced back to sheer laziness the mugginess of the air. This evening’s thunderstorms don’t seem to have helped much, just distributing the water a little more evenly between the ground and the sky.

And yes, I know Minnesota’s not nearly as humid as many other places. All I have to say in response is: thank goodness I don’t live in those places.

Update, a little after midnight: I guess the earlier smatterings of rain and tornadoes were just a warmup for the real thunderstorm, which is going on now. At least it’s cooling things off a little.
